A Scary Evening

Yesterday my sweetie camed over!  That was the nice part of the day.
When mama camed home, disaster hit!
She didn't make any sense.  She kept saying she wanted to go home.  She tried to call her friend but couldn't remember the number. She was way crazy!
She somehow got through to her friend, and the next thing she knew--I left the room when the good guys camed in. That's right, the paramedics!  When they arrived, I knew it was time to let the professionals work!  They put a needle in her arm and gave her dextrose.  They found her apple juice and made her drink several glasses.  One of the paramedics made her a sammich.
It seems she almost didn't have a glucose level at all! I almost losted her. Good thinking on her friend's part! And of course, as soon as the paramedics left, she called her friend back and then called her doctor (she was just there!)to get an adjustment made on her insulin for the evening.. And of course, there I was, back on the daybed making sure she wasn't alone!
Then she had to have another couple of meals. And I got some. And because I was such a good girl, I got SAMMMON Temptations!
Diabetes is scary.
Mommy is okay this morning, waiting for the doctor to call her back today.
I don't want another scary evening like that, EVER!
love,
brandi

Very scary but sounds like the medics did their job well and got your mom back to feeling better!

Oh no, we're so glad your mom called for help and is ok! Our person said she grew up with diabetes (her dad has had type 1 for 35 years), so it can be very scary. We're glad you were such a good and helpful kitty!

Oh dear, Miss Brandi, that was truly a scary experience -- both for you and your Mama. I hope she is doing OK now and her meds have been adjusted so this doesn't happen again. You will take good care of her, I know.

Our Small One (Meomy) has diabetes as well, but lucky she doesn't have to have the needle. She is always home with ME (the Big One) so I watch her close like. Well, I always have watched her close like. She's my world.

Anyway I do hope you don't have any more scares like that one Brandi.

Give Mommy a big cuddle, lots of head butts, and keep close watch.

I am very glad that your Mom got through to her friend and that her friend was able to call help for her. I really hope you don't have another scary evening like that.

We are glad your mom still had the presence of mind to call her friend, a minute or two later she might have passed out.
Our boy had two scary episodes when he was a teen. His blood sugar was like 18 or so. He was curled up in a fetal position, drooling & staring. Very scary. The paramedics mainlined sugar into his veins and after a snack he felt fine. Scary!

Wow, that must have been SO scary! We are happy your Mom is safe. You would have been so sad to lose her. And who would have helped you blog?????? That is kinda funny that the paramedic made her a sandwich. What did he put in it? Peanut butter and jelly???
