Under 200!

Hey, Happy Monday, people! And guess what? I am down to under 200 blog entries to read and I will be caught up.  That's right. I'm on January 16! So Mommy said I could take time out to do a blog entry myself. Whew! That was some long reading, let me tell you!
Yes, I still have more to go, but I'm on the home stretch now.
I made mommy take a little  green paper out of my PayPal account and order some new (used) speakers from Amazon. Everything on the computer says this thing is working perfectly, so I assume that it is the speakers themselves (they have been dropped hundreds of times, so this is a good possibility).
If it is not the speakers and it IS the computer, well, we'll just have to wait for my real computer to get fixed and then I'll have Mommy plug in the new ones there!
So I hope those of you who are celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Day have a wonderfully enriching day, and for those of you who have to go to work or school, hope your Monday is not too stressful.
We hope to be blogging a bit more (even with no pictures) and to be commenting on more blogs now.
love ya,
QUINN
I told mommy she can take the rest of the day off. To read(!) her book from the library.

Saturday Stuff

Dear Friends,
It is so wonderful being back on the internet, even though we have no pictures. Hopefully we will get our own computer fixed at some point. But without pictures, well, we can still be here!
Now for another problem (!) we need help with:
Mommy, not being that computer savvy after all these years, doesn't know how to get the sound to work on this puter. Everything we check says it is on and stereo and at maximum volume and even the light on the speaker works as soon as the puter is turned on.  But all we get is ~~silence~~.
So we have to program this puter's speakers somehow? It says we are using a specific brand of speakers and that is not what we actually have. Do we go to some magic web site and download something? Both computers are the same brand, Dell, although several years different.
Where do we go from here? ??
I can't even get birdy sounds!
If you know how to help, please let us know. Do we just need new speakers? Did they malfunction along with our old hard drive? What are we missing (besides ~~sound~~)?
If not, well, that's okay.  We all aren't techie. Mommy sure isn't!
There are some things we are missing on this puter. We put a calendar gadget on our desktop that comes and goes (it is definitely not supposed to do that), along with time and temp and we can't get Weather Underground to work (it keeps saying copy the code, but we have no idea WHERE). And Mommy liked the analog clock she put on the desktop and she can't find one on the internet. Minor problems.
Now one of the main problems we have is catching up with all our reading on here. We still have over 600 blog entries to read! It is going to take days!!!
So pardon us right now. I am making Mommy read ALL of them to me, and I think it is going to take DAYS. We need to find out about all the things that have been happening on the blogosphere! You know, the good things and the sad things. You do know we did keep purraying for all of you even when we couldn't  be on here! Yes we did!
Have a very sweet Saturday, all.
love ya,
QUINN

Back Again Sort of

Just a note to tell everyone our computer broke and till we can afford to get the old one fixed, we have another to use finally. Like today we got it. Yuck. Blogger would not let us sign in for the longest time today, and we had 1586 messages in our email account. And we cannot get comcast back as our front page. And we have no way to access our bookmarks. And we don't have Microsoft windows.  And WE MISSED CHRISTMAS!
Yes, we woke up Christmas Eve day with NO COMPUTER.
And now we have no wireless phone hook up. How did THAT happen?? We do have an old phone to use, but our phone numbers for people and stuff is gone, of course. We're using an old antique phone with a cord, after all. When Mommy unplugged our dead computer today she did something to our wireless phone....
No pictures! No wallpaper, no access to writings, recipes, manuals, updated passwords, how to's, our 120 solitaire games (purchased eons ago), quotes, the weather information and calendar, personal family stuff, NOTHING! All are locked in our old computer! Waaaaaaa!
So thank goodness the Christmas Elves came to our house! Otherwise we would have had a really bad Christmas!! At least Mommy had some hot chocolate to soothe her tears! Thank you again.
Bear with us as Mommy slowly figures out stuff on this silly puter. Help with fixing our old one, if you can. Our rent just went up Big Time, and the increase in SSI is less than the new rent!
Yuck, yuck, yuck. Blaaaahhh! Waaaaaa! Sniff! Lots of that going on in our place.
I sort of like the Sleepy Pod, by the way. It is very comfy. Mommy tripped over the box it came in and squished it yesterday. So far she has left it out, and it makes a great fort! No one can see me!
We want our computer back!
We'll see if we can sign back on to Blogger again. Cross your paws! Hopefully we will be back!
love ya, and boy did we miss our friends!  Wonder how long it is going to take to catch up on our reading list on Bloglovin'?

Oooooooh, Christmas Elves!

Hi. I'm the Winter Bear! I'm here to tell you about our Special Visitors! Christmas Elves! So sit back, get comfy, and see what they brought!
Stuff for Mommy and stuff for me! She made the Hot Cocoa later. She said, Yum! And she loves lavender, so the lavender soap (in the small bar) was awesome! And she loves good lotion for her dry skin! And of course there were pictures of my funny and wonderful fellow kitty residents of Minneapolis! And peaking in the back, a special GloGirly Bag. And a couple gift certificates. And do you see that little card on the left? It says I now have a Tickle Pickle!
Nommy healthy treats, too!
Close up of some pictures I got.
And of course the best for last: My own Sleepy Pod!
Now you will kindly leave me to my Sleepy Pod and my new balls and my mouse and my Pink Tickle Pickle, Mommy! More pictures later!
You see, as soon as my lovely elves left, I wanted to curl up in the Pod for most of  the rest of the day!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, sweet Christmas Elves!
And thank you, Hemingway, Shakespeare, Katie, and Waffles for lending me your mommies for part of my wonderful day!
And, oh, yes, thank you camera company for helping me get my pictures downloaded to my computer again! Yippee!
Have a wonderful fantastic and lovely weekend, all!

HAPPY TUXIE TUESDAY!

I know. It looks like a black and white picture. I swear it is NOT. My chair is just pale blue and white! And it was cloudy the day the picture was taken, if that matters.
No, Mommy hasn't figured out the camera upload problem (download? What ever!), this is just one of the last pictures we did get into the computer! And I told Mommy not to publish yet another pre-run picture! Not on Tuxie Tuesday! And this was there.
Barb came over yesterday afternoon. And she smelled kind of suspicious.  There was another kitty smell! Hiss, you say? Nope. Barb rescued a kitty outside her work (it took her over a week and a Trap Neuter Return box). She took it to a vet, had it checked out, and now she has a new black kitty at her house named Midnight! Yes! Now you know why I can't hiss! Barb is great at scritchies, I know, and since it turns out Midnight is a cuddler and a real sweetie I am so happy she found her furever home with Barb! I am happy for Barb, too!
Tomorrow Mommy has another heart appointment and we hope that it is the last one and Mommy is okay. Just when we think we are caught up reading there are more posts to read, so I told Mommy we have to TRY to catch up today, as we won't be reading tomorrow.
It has been warm the last couple of days but it is going to be cold again.  We actually had one of the windows open all day yesterday! Not today!
Mommy has something good cooking in the kitchen today. Nom! It's just that so much people food smells good and I don't care for it, and I hope this isn't one of those things! You know I like stuff like spinach and sweet potatoes, and sometimes ham or turkey or chicken, but I would rather have my own stuff, please.
Have a wonderful day!
love ya,
QUINN

FINALLY!

Happy 12 13 14
Mommy thought that was cool.  I would rather say
Happy Caturday!
We have just almost caught up with our blog reading! Whew, there are a lot of blogs we love! So Mommy said I could post something.  She still hasn't got the camera thing figured out, but she's only really been feeling lots better today.  I have my chair back!
Barb didn't come on Tuesday. Mommy then slept for like two zillion days. She's coming Monday, instead. Hooray!
Mommy said now she has a weeks worth of kitty furs to sweep, and she wonders if the old hand held vac still works. It would be nice for the chair, at least.
No holiday shopping here. Just a Chewy box coming with my monthly foodies. Mommy doesn't get her disability check til next week, but we aren't spending green papers anyway, cause there are bills to pay. Honestly I don't see any ducks! And I don't even get an allowance (except for my PayPal account--hint hint. I want a cat tree and my Cat Attract*!) so why should the ducks get anything?
Have a great weekend! Cross your paws for Mommy figuring out the camera thing!
love ya,
QUINN
*Cat Attract is a brand of litter if you are wondering, peoples.

Tuesday Update!

I feel fine, efurryone. Absolutely! But now Mommy has a bad bad cold. And she feels miserable. When she came out to the living room this morning I jumped on my chair. She said "Really?" and I jumped down and went into my box.  Gotta give her some comfort when she feels crappy! Okay, Mommy, you can sit in my chair!
Still haven't figured out why my camera won't download (or is it upload?) to my computer all the sudden. I think I may have to wait until Mommy's brain feels better and she's not filling the place with tissues!
We called Barb this morning to warn her that Mommy has a cold, and give her a chance to reschedule. We left a message. Haven't heard from her, so I think she's still coming this afternoon.
When Mommy got home yesterday she didn't even eat dinner. She went to sleep.  Well, she slept when she wasn't blowing her nose!
Maybe more later. We'll wait to see how miserable Mommy is.
love ya,
QUINN

Easy Sunday

Oh, shoot! We had every intention of me blogging earlier this weekend.  But I was feeling a little crappy early yesterday morning, so Mommy was "keeping an eye on me". Nothing serious. I even had a really good play time later in the day.  You wouldn't believe how bedraggled my poor Da Bird is. I've really had a lot of fun killing it. A lot! Worn out toy, happy cat!
And we are seriously behind in our blog reading. Oh, shoot, again!  I think shoot is mommy's favorite saying this weekend! Kinda catchy. Especially when it has nothing to do with cameras!
Oh, yes.  I wanted to reassure you that I am purrfectly okay, now. Eating, drinking, playing, sleeping fine! Just one of those things. I threw up, I was really fine, Mommy worried. Ya know?
Mommy has to go to the clinic Monday, so we won't be catching up on my reading. And then on Tuesday, my friend Barb is coming! I love her scritchies! Sorry, but I won't be catching up on my reading then, either, probably. Real live scritchies, ya know?
Mommy's camera is loaded with new pictures. Only for some reason she's having a hard time downloading them to the computer. Did my laser eyes help demolish this?
Her Kindle for PC app is gone, too. Heh-heh. She only has her Adobe book reader working for her library downloads! Those are reasons we are late blogging.
I recycled one you haven't seen yet. Not the greatest.
Have an Easy Sunday.
love ya,
QUINN

Guess What Today Is!

Hey, did you know it is Giving Tuesday? And it is an international event! I think that's kind of cool. We wish we could participate, but are spreading the word anyway. That's participating, isn't it? Give to your favorite charity today! Or a new charity. Make up for all the green papers you spent on Black Friday and Cyber Monday and give some hope, instead.
Speaking of green papers, peoples have asked me what has been added to our PayPal account. Mommy has just enough to pay for this month's insulin! Woo-hoo! A little over half our needs! We are so grateful to you all! We know some of you are in the same spot as us, living on fixed incomes and all, so please let the blogosphere know if you need help, too.
The bug guys were here this morning, so we got that taken care of.  Tomorrow Mommy goes to the clinic about her diabetes.
Does anybody know how you ask Medicare for a walker? We know that the people vet has to write a prescription for it, but who do you give the paper to? Mommy definitely needs a walker!
And speaking of my Mommy, she still aches a lot from her fall. She said 40 years ago she would have been up and forgotten all about the spill. Now, she knows she's going to hurt for a few days! She must be older than dirt! Don't let her know I said that! I like my massages and pets and rubbies and scritchies and my foodies! I don't need her mad at me. No way!
There is no sunshine today. Maybe tomorrow. Mommy said the temperature is barely in the double digits (20), but that's all you can say about it. And don't even talk  about Celsius! That number is a negative one (-7)!
Giving Tuesday is also Tuxie Tuesday. And Tortie Tuesday. And a lot of other Tuesday things. But you know what? Tuxie Tuesday is the best! After Giving Tuesday, of course!

QUINN

Monday Mutters

We appreciate your suggestions and what we are asking for is kind of short term help. $300 would help us cover this  month’s insulin on our present prescription drug insurance and the first month of next year with our new insurance program’s annual deductions. That is it. After that Mommy can handle everything. Can you imagine what it would be like if we didn’t have the government’s “extra help”?
Mommy has researched insulin help for several years. There is none if you are already insured. That’s the catch. We have insurance, so there is no help. Crazy, isn’t it? If you live on a fixed income and are anywhere above the poverty line you do not qualify for medical assistance from the county or state, and all the inexpensive or free help for insulin is for people without insurance. Mommy calls that “catch 21” I think. Or “22”. Or something. I forget. Peoples have weird words sometimes!
Medical Advantage plans—that is what she was on last year, and it got to be way too expensive, if you can believe that. Mommy had to drop it. She investigated the SilverScript prescription plan, but oddly enough they don’t cover the type of insulin she takes at all. Her regular medical insurance has been really great and we are keeping it. The new prescription drug plan (after she pays the annual deduction) sounds like a better plan for her medicines. The “extra help” takes a chunk out of that, thank goodness!
Mommy has been an advocate of help for diabetics, and now senior diabetic assistance, for years. Write your congresspersons. Call them (Mommy has!). Our congresspersons have been working on a plan to close that “donut hole” or at least make it not so big a hole. We wish the major insulin makers would allow generic ones that would cost less.  But that would cut drastically into their profits! So, insulin remains a big expense for diabetics. All the other medications she takes ARE generic, thank Cod.
I do have to tell you that Mommy fell yesterday and couldn’t get up right away. She wishes she had a wheel chair or even a walker she could occasionally sit in. But she doesn’t. She has balance problems. I was so upset when she fell and tried so many times to get up. I couldn’t help. After a long time she did make it up. She was shaken and found some place to sit down right away. Today she kind of hurts all over.
Oddly enough during the time she was on the floor yesterday her phone rang (nowhere near her) and she found out later that it was the pharmacy wondering if she had figured stuff out, cause this month’s insulin is sitting at the pharmacy waiting for her. I think she is getting kind of unsteady on her feet and should have help. We’ll see. Something to work on next year.
Pleasant stuff: Uh, its cold out and we are nice and warm? That really is a big help in Minnesota in the winter! We are nice and warm.  Mommy actually has a fan turned on lots of time! I heard that her last apartment was very cold in the wintertime. So she is really happy she found this place. It is comfy! I would have to agree! Sometimes our toes are cold, but there are warm things to sit on!
Mommy laughs at me cause I sit in “her” new living room chair a lot. But it is MY chair, right? I thought so.  She has the office chair! She can get a wheel chair or a walker she can sit in. I love my chair. It is sooo comfy. So there! Get me a cat tree! Then maybe I’ll let you sit in the chair more. Oh, I know. We can’t afford it. As Nissy would say, Mouses! My boxes are not that comfy, but at least they exist!
We have the bug guys from maintenance coming this week. We are so glad they try to keep up with any problems and do preventative care, too.
Mommy does have to go to the clinic this week to see her diabetic nurse, who is trying to see if they have any samples of insulin Mommy can have. It would only be about a week’s worth, maybe, but a help!

Whew. I had a lot to say for a kitty, didn’t I!
Have a good week, and keep warm.
Love ya,
QUINN
