Update

Beans and kitties,

Thank you for the concern. My mama either had to agree to voluntarily leave by the end of the month or we would have been out today. Legally. They are going to condemn our apartment cause of all the problems we have had here. So the owner gave us till the end of the month, instead. So we have to be out by the 28th. We have to clean, pack, find a place, and move, and transfer utilities and change addresses, etc. We are very upset. I don't want to be away from my mama. She doesn't want to be away from me. We HAVE to do something. After the 28th we will be locked out, and the police will be called if we try to get back in. Wow!

I know mama is scared. She didn't sleep well last night. And I had twitchy scary dreams. I slept on mama all night, too.

On a better note, mama had a phone interview today, and applied for one more jobbie today from the paper (on line). This part of life has to go on. We HAVE to get mama a jobbie.

More later, if I have more news.

Love
brandi

Oh dear. I am so sorry to hear about your having to move. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I wish you the best of luck in the jobbie department.

Well, at least you don't have to worry very much about cleaning up the place, I guess.

Do you have any friends or relatives in the area where you can crash for a few days? That would at least give you a little more time to look around.

Good luck.

Brandi & Carol this is so disturbing! We really don't know what to do besides pray for you. I'd like to consider taking Brandi in temporarily, but I don't know how that would go over with my 3 male cats, plus she is so much older, I wouldn't want her to be upset. Still, there might be no other option....

Well, if the place is condemned for required repairs, at least you don't have to clean. In fact, if that were happening where I live, the tenants would have their full security deposit back too, usually plus relocation assistance. I had a situation where the duplex that I was renting was sold, and the new owners were planning to live there and wanted me out right away. I put all my stuff into a storage space and stayed with a friend for a couple days till I could move into the new place I'd finally found. It must be so much worse not having a car. Do you have anyone who can help move your things?

Don't bother cleaning, a place that has been condemned for repairs doesn't need it. Please contact legal aid as Skeezix said. In the case of eviction for condemnation I do believe the owner is legally liable to return all deposits and perhaps part of the rents paid on a untennable apartment. Can you maybe stay with your brother for a little while? I wish I was there, in the area, so I could come with our army of men with pick-up trucks and take you and Brandi to my home.

That's the only problem on the internet, you can be close to people's lives, but not close enough to go over and help.

We've got a lot of cat bloggers checking on different things. Had some offers of more donations. At least when you find a place, the money won't be a problem.

Guess I'm going to get some sleep and see what tomorrow brings.

I put a little post up on the Prayer & Praise blog.

We are very worried about you and Brandi. I hope that there is someone there you can physically help you move. IT is a very bad time for this to be happening. Like SSS's Mom we would be happy to take Brandi, temporarily if you need assistance with her that. Our only problem is that we are in Florida. You and Brandi are in our prayers and we hope that things go as well as they can.

Maybe this is an opportunity for you and Brandi to go someplace else. Is there an area were the bus routes are better and there are more jobs? Maybe this is a sign for you to change your locale entirely.

We are all purraying for you.

On another note: Have you looked at IBM? I know that they have very strict non-discrimination policies including disabilities and genetics.

Are the other tenants getting evicted, too? In Madison, that was happening by Christmas and the tenants managed to get their alderman or someone to negotiate a longer time to be out. Also, the Salvation Army stepped in to help the evicted folks find new housing. Maybe the SA can help? You're in our purrayers.
