We are still together! And we are not happy missing all of you, but we do miss you. It has been exhausting trying to get Mommy to get better. Especially with Management around here hounding us every other day. If it isn't the bug spraying or the bedbug spraying or announcements about snow removal or remembering to keep your windows closed (as if we wanted 32 below zero winter in our homes), it is announcements about food trucks bringing fresh veggies (well, maybe not so fresh) and remembering to lock your doors and hey we're still working on the outside of the building, sorry it's still so noisy, or watch for the wind when you use the outside doors or all the elevators are being worked on today or the water will be turned off til 4 or.... Enough! The announcements thingies in your apartments were for things like fires and the apocalypse coming!
And if you are already awake and up you have to hurry into the bedroom so you can hear the announcements. Yup. One speaker. And the outside noise? We have heard it for several months already!
Anyway, Mommy has been in the hospital a couple times. She has had several infections, lost a bunch of weight (really fast, which isn't good), had to delay her eye appointments (and is having problems with her eyes, too) and the surgery on her leg can't be done with all the infections and did I mention she had a concussion? The bills are mounting up, the building is just waiting to file an eviction (we already called a lawyer about that), Mommy has had something called OT and PT which helps, and we signed up for Meals on Wheels.
Those last items mentioned are good ones. The OT and PT are helping her balance. And the meals? Are they good? Yes!!!! Even I get to taste the sauce or gravies (yes, no onions!) and we had some Delicious pudding the other day. Mommy says she even likes the turkey meat loaf (with onions, darn it). She is eating healthy! Just like me!~
When she does get out it is only to the hospital or the doctor. No eating out unless she is at the clinic. This week when she went they had butternut squash ravioli and veggies and then they gave her a free banana! Told you we eat healthy!
I spend a lot of my evening and night by her. She has been a little kitty cat. I keep telling her sleep is a good thing. And she's doing a lot of it, too.
Christmas, she loves Christmas. We don't have presents this year or anything, but at least she's feeling a little better. That's my present.
We'll try to look in for Christmas. If we don't, send good thoughts, and know that you all are in our hearts and prayers and we send lots of blessings for all!
Love ya,

FROM QUINNIE
Hi. Mommy is still sick. We see a "pt" guy and a lady "ot" and people from "the building" who come in and bitch at us constantly about our cluttered apartment (why do we have more than one towel and one book? why do we need more than one kitchen chair? why do we need more than 3 changes of clothes?) O, not the "ot" and "pt" peoples They are helping Mommy physically. But the manager and "caseworker" for the building ? Bitch. Our actual "Caseworker"? she insists she can only meets with us in the "community room" and doesn't really concern herself with what we actually need help with immediately. hey, this time Mommy got the lady's comments (rules) in writing and cancelled her period. Mommy IS not stupid. the company said she was on her way to see us (I HAVE NEVER EVEN SEEN HER) and we said no WE WOULD NOT TALK TO HER. SHE HAS NEVER EVEN BEEN IN OUR HOME AND WE HAVE TO SEE HER IN A PUBLIC ROOM ( her rules). We talked to our senior services from our clinic and legal aid and got on meals on wheels. Now they have been a little screwy, but we are new to them and sometimes things get a little screwy when they are new.we understand. They are very pleasant and the problems were fixed in a day. And their food is better than the assisted living people get in the building! we had a sample of that a few months ago. Mouses! Blaaaakkkk!
Now wheels on meals are not free, but I think if I can get nutritious food Mommy should too. If we could move out of here we would be happier, too. If we could get out of this nasty neighborhood where sirens and stabbing go on every day we would maybe feel a little safer. Someone want to set up a fund?
Mommy has a couple of surgeries coming up and we need some help.
Oops. gotta scoot. Mommy doesn't know about this post, so shhhhh.
love ya,

More bad stuff
Yes, we know. We have been missing again. We missed my gotcha day! But I have been very very busy with Mommy, so I really don't mind.
She had to go into the hospital last Friday with some major infections and the medicines they gave her she had a bad reaction to. I have spent a lot of time glued tightly to her side or sitting on the top of the pillow since she's home. I don't normally do that a lot, and never as tightly! I was! She's better, but she doesn't want to eat because of the meds (help, send pizza!--actually send creamy tomato microwave soup, which she says she's craving). I don't know about her doctors, but the paramedics are cute!
Anyway, while Mommy gets better we won't be on here a lot.
Send prayers, pizza (or some creamy tomato microwave soup)!
Mommy said I am being very sweet and loving to her.

I vote for the pizza ;)

Gotcha is coming!
MY gotcha day is November 9th! I've had Mommy for 4 years. That makes me around 5 years old!
And yes, brandi still comes and visits. She says to say hi to everfuryone.
Thank you to all who have been stopping by to read and comment through the years. More than 10! We all love you. And your own OTRB loved ones are happy and playing like you wouldn't believe. No sickies, only happy memories. Just waiting for that joyous day when they all can be with you.
Quinnie and brandi and Mommy Carol of course.
You all are pretty cool family!

Not the good kind of excitement
Oh dear, oh dear. My mommy disappeared and left me all alone. No food, no water. She left me! I was starving and so thirsty I almost didn't make it!
Not to worry, friends. She stayed over night at the people's hospital. She's already home! Seems she had some infections to clear up, including a kidney one. Now those are not fun. They took lots of blood and gave her some IVs and gave her some pills to take at home. She had to promise to make an appointment with her vet in a week to check if the infections are gone.
Such drama around here! Anyway, once she was all settled she made sure I had food and water and scritchies. And my mommy was HOME. Including hospital smells.
{I really was gone overnight and she had food and water, just no scritches. Is she a drama queen or what?-- Mommy}
Well, that's my exiting weekend so far. She slept like a good girl for several hours, made a little dinner and went back to bed. Well, at least she's home and I got some scritchies! And more crunchies and fresh water. I think I will get to watch over her this afternoon while she take a nap.
She BETTER take a nap. We all know sleep is a very good healer!
Love ya,
QUINNIE
Ps. She had French toast there!

Wordy Wednesday
Mommy is having something called P.T. this afternoon. Or P.T. Assessment? Whatever. Then she is going to see some peoples to learn about de-cluttering on Friday. Then on Monday she is going to see one of her caseworkers (a new one. She hasn't made up her mind whether she likes this one yet). Then it's a surgery consult, two more doctor pointments and surgery. Hopefully it will be a minor surgery. We will let you know more as soon as we know. We went downstairs for a couple of hours Tuesday. Our lovely manager said I could only be in the community room in my PTU on the floor. Mouses! Really hard to get a good view of the street and all the cars and trucks and busses from the floor. NOT fair.
The maintenance guy she doesn't like was back Tuesday, insults and all. We do not like him. He is rude. At least this time he didn't say anything about Mommy having too much bread because she hid it in the fridge!
Hope you all had a safe Halloween and the ghosties and goblins were only nice ones!

Mommy has fallen again (once on Saturday and once on Monday). She has a big bruise on her chin and several little bruises. The one on her chin looks like one of those plums that Mommy likes. Deep purple. So we haven't really been around for a few days. She hurt her shoulder and bruised the inside of her mouth. Mommy has a pointment with the doctor to check out why she still has a headache. Mommy is getting pretty disgusted with Medicare. They only grant people who can't walk the wheelchairs. If you fall constantly, well, that's what walkers are for. This makes no sense to her, but is the way it is. She can't afford to buy one, and that's the end of that. It makes her fearful of leaving our home, and that is not good for anybody but me (scritchies and long brushies).
So that is why we haven't been doing Halloween pictures like we said we would. We're sorry. Here's a couple:
That's almost all we have. So we have the rest of the week covered. Oh and the little kitten on the pumpkin is one of our all time favorites (the ewok is cute too).
Now just in case you miss me, here is one of me. Invisible costume!

Wordy Wednesday
Hello! Mommy is finally getting updated on some things on the puter. Monday we had a guest and yesterday we had Maintenance come. They did the bug stuff, you know, spraying and stuff, and something amazingly nice (for once!!!). They noticed a tear in our bedbug defenders (they keep bedbugs out of your bedding) and REPLACED THEM! Not only that, they made sure the bed was properly on the frame and threw the packaging in the garbage and took away the old defenders! Now, they didn't remake the bed, but getting those bedbug covers on the mattress and box springs was really hard for Mommy when she got the new bed (yes, okay it's used). What a blessing! How nice!! Hope they keep this maintenance guy!!
We, of course, had to leave (that PTU again) for a couple of hours, so we had a little meeting downstairs and spent the rest of the time in the community room. I was fascinated with all the cars and trucks and busses going by, so that occupied my time very nicely. Remember we live on the 16th floor and I usually only get to see very small cars, trucks, and busses from above on the other side of the building. It was exciting to see them at their level. Mommy said I did very well in the meeting and was very good in the community room, but the way down in the elevator I was LOUD. I'm working on it. The way up again I was very good, and went we came to our floor I was stretching my neck and sniffing cause we were almost home.
Mommy has several errands to run tomorrow (pharmacy and other boring stuff), so she'll be gone most of the day.
So there you have our update. Mommy's leg is still a little painful, but much better. I have mysteriously have had some hairballs lately, but Mommy thinks it's because I now get Furminated every day because my furs are preparing for winter. And oh yes, she complained to the cable company about the price hike for service and got them to take money OFF our bill. Now we can pay less than before! Mommy says, "whoooo who".
Please have a good day today. And my gotcha day is coming up! But before that, Halloween!
Love ya, lots of prayers,
QUINNIE MAKAYLA

Finally Friday
Last night Mommy got a big surprise in the middle of the night. All the power was off! She went to that box on the wall and flipped a bunch of switches but nothing happened. Now me--no problem. I have excellent night vision. But Mommy got weirded out using the powder room in the dark. At least the hall lights were on--they have emergency backup. Anyway, she went back to bed and the next thing we heard was one of those big drill things breaking up concrete. Before 5 o'clock! Back to sleep for Mommy! When she woke up at last everything was okay. Mommy says she can't remember any losing power for more than a minute here. One of the only positive things about a tiny partment--can't get lost in the dark! At least SHE can't. I have night vision, remember? I could prowl a castle!
And, oh yes. Closer to Halloween I am having Mommy put some Halloween-ish pictures on my blog.
Have a sweet and safe weekend. Thanks for your prayers!
Love ya,
QUINN

Unhappy news
Remember us? Well, crazy things are happening to our computer, first of all. All of a sudden the sound quit working although everything is A-OK when we check plug-ins and stuff. It worked for a few moments and then stopped again. We have no idea how to fix it. We didn't touch any control except to check to see if it was working.
If there is a wizard out there who can help, PLEASE!
Then there is the major meeting with management on Thursday. Eviction is possible. This is beyond belief.
Mommy's leg is on the mend, however. Hooray!
Oh, and we have to keep all the blinds closed in case of peeping toms. No, seriously. We live up in the air above the trees, but the thing is they are doing some stuff on the outside of the building for about the next month.
Well, you know I can nose aside the blinds and look out anyway, so no problems with me.
Mommy has got to go to this meeting Thursday by herself, so please send encouragement. She has to defend our "clutter" and the books Mommy has. Not every tabletop or desktop can be totally empty. They are insisting they can be. Mommy has already purged a bunch of stuff over the years, but cannot live with "declutter", Meaning nothing. Can you? Even my TicklePickle is clutter! And so are bookcases filled nicely with books (hey, Mommy was once upon a time not only an English major, but a library science minor). Most of her books have to do with her religion, literary criticism, history or classic books from both American literature and English literature. Does she read a book more than once? YES! Why should she throw it away?
If we have to move we have nowhere to go. I will lose Mommy and she will be homeless. Not good with winter coming to Minnesota.
We are totally stressed out and apologize about our absence. Please send prayers and good thoughts.
Thank you!
Love ya all.
QUINN

Wednesday Wordy News
Mommy and I made it through yesterday. I got to see the Community Room! And watch the cars at what Mommy called "street level". It was fun! But coming back upstairs both Mommy and I were a little sick. I don't know if it was the spraying they did, but we both kinda threw up a bit. And while I felt better Mommy didn't. She drank ginger ale, which she said is a home remedy, but it didn't really help too much. If she still feels crummy by bedtime I am going to make her see her own v-e-t.
As we were leaving our home yesterday the guy said something about our bread. Last time they mentioned bread they said it was moldy and threw it out. We guessed they had never seen oatmeal bread (ours has little oaties on the outside), but the bread was one day old and that meant we didn't have bread for quite a while. This time she said it was only a couple of days old and it was perfectly fine. So the guy didn't throw it out. Thank goodness! Now, I don't eat the stuff, but she does, and she had just spent a week without bread waiting to place her grocery order. No bread, no crackers (well, we still don't have crackers, but I don't care) no peanut butter, Mommy was really hurting! Anyway, we now have peanut butter and bread. And Mommy's coffee came last night!
So Mommy is still not feeling well. And did you notice our letter color is black? It is supposed to be blue, but blogger refused to print the whole thing in blue (half of it was disappearing!) so we are black letters today. Mommy didn't feel like fighting with blogger or our computer.
That's it for your Wednesday Wordy News!
peace and love,

Thankful Thursday
Finally! We have been having computer problems today. Yuck! Windows 10 did an hour long update and lost all of our sidebar gadgets. Mommy has been working all morning and part of the afternoon. We actually got a gadget for weather that works and our clock and calendar back!
We weren't on the puter last night because of the weather. For most of the evening we had lightning flashes and some hard rain. Now, I am not afraid of lightning flashs much, so I sat on my chair close to Mommy on her office chair and helped her be calm. [Mommy here. I love rainstorms!] It was important to stay off the puter. Even though we have a surge protector lightning can create problems for electronic things. And I think they "ground the building", whatever that means. It is nice to not have the lights go out. Mommy said twice since we lived here and they were over in minutes. I think this place has a backup generator or something.
Anyway, Mommy has errands to run tomorrow and she says some groceries are being delivered. She's not sure if she has monies for everything this month. [ Mommy here again. She hates loud thunder and rushes off to safety]
The grocery store doesn't have her coffee for some reason, so she ordered some from Amazon. She loves her Keurig and is down to only a couple pods for coffee and one light hot chocolate pod and a couple of tea ones.
Please don't get between Mommies and their coffee! I have to wait till she has all her stuff for diabetes taken care of before her coffee. But while it's made and a little after she Furminates me and pets me. She says this will not hurt her coffee, because it can cool down a bit before she drinks it.
(Shhh! I also whine till she makes sure I have foodies and water and brushes me. The diabetes stuff comes first though.)
Last night Mommy fell asleep on her office chair and woke up in the middle of the night and went to bed. I had to check her to make sure she was okay, and then we both went back to sleep. Me in my cat lounger/pillow/bed and her in the big bed. My bed (you've seen me sleeping in it) is at the foot of the big bed so I can keep an eye on her! I wont tell her that I was the one that woke her up. It's one of my duties to make sure she gets her sleep, and not in a chair!
I bet she's thankful for getting to bed last night and getting some good rest!
I work hard to take care of her!
Please have a day filled with grace and love,
QUINNIE MAKALA

Mommy says it is going to be cool a few days (windows open, a/c coolie thing is off now) and then it is going to be warm again. Hard to know how much fur to lose these days!
We are getting closer to when Mommy's check comes, but it still is a ways off. We have a Chewy order I think. And some of Mommy's medical supplies (the only ones we don't pay for--test strips for her intsulins). Anything else would have to wait. Will we ever get a pizza delivered again? Or a sammich? Or will we ever get to try the new salads you can get now from one of the pizza places? Or even get some fresh milk?
They made an announcement today that the police advised us to leave our front doors locked at all times. Apparently there is someone trying door handles. Now I really wish we could move! Peoples here really don't have that much money laying around. But I bet it is all those pills peoples take. The bad peoples think there are drugs they can sell. Blood pressure pills? Intsulin? Whaaat?? I guess bad peoples will do anything to make monies and get what they can for themselves. Well, our door is locked and you can't have my catnip to get high on! Or sell! And Mommy needs her pills and her intsulins!
Too many bad things going on these days. We'll be grateful for our prayers! And for good peoples and anipals on the internets who like to pray too and maybe help others if they can.
Yup, those are some good things that are going on! That is totally a relief!! Since Lizzie left (our poodle neighbor) there aren't any woofies on this floor to bark at strangers!

We did it again. Forgot to blog. I didn't. Mommy got busy. Anyway, today being Thursday (thankfully) we are getting sprayed for non-existent bugs. Oh, joy. Now they say I have to leave for 2 hours after they spray.
Tomorrow is our inspection, and our neighbor friend has helped us out so we are just about ready. Mommy said she didn't like standing on her head in the fridgermator--but dear readers, I didn't see that. I don't think she could fit! She's lying! Laying. Lie-ing. She's a liar! Oh, for goodness sake what ever! She meant she cleaned it, I think. And we have tile floors, so no vacuuming!
Things are moved around and I am so glad I found my foodies and my water when all was done. And my bed(s) and my chair are in the same places, so that wasn't hard.
Tomorrow they BETTER PASS US! It is beautiful in here (and I am so glad the books are not in the middle of the living room floor for Mommy to trip on any more).
So maybe we will be done with this crap for a while. Although It is pretty nice in here....
I hope they like our home. I am celebrating already!

Tuxie Tuesday Today
We know, we did it again. Mommy has been busy. She had to pack up all her books for the heat treat, and now she's shelving them back up. That's going slowly because she doesn't want to "clutter" too much. Her eye appointment didn't go too well, either. Her left eye is fine, but the right one got "the needle treatment" again. We are going to be inspected once again in little over a week (remind you of Dezi, Raena, and Audra?). Seems like the new manager is inspection happy. We'll show her!
Mommy went to WallyWorld yesterday for her insulin, and came home with a bad tummy. So she didn't eat dinner and felt yucky most of the night. Today, so far, she is lots better. At least she didn't bring lots of stuff home we can't afford. All that came home with her was her medicine!
I am my adorable self, of course. One of the totes is still on the floor, almost full, and it is perfect for sitting on when Mommy is in the chair. I can sit next to her! We also have a bunch of books still on the floor waiting to be shelved. I only knocked a few over. Just a few!
And this plastic tubby thing with the cover on is great for napping. Hey, that sounds like a good idea.

Tuxie Tuesday
Home again from appointment #1, Mommy checked the temp this afternoon here in the partment and it is 82 degrees Fahrenheit! That we can live with! She said they had lots of roads closed all over for construcktion and she got to go all over to get home on the Metro. She LOVES looking at houses, so she enjoyed it. They dropped one gentleman off at a handicap place, and she said it was so perfect! No stairs.Electronic card to get in. That's the kind of place she wishes we could have! She said the outside was very pretty. We probably can't afford some place like that.
The heat treat is over for us. No bugs, supposedly. That's what it is for. She saw the ropes or hoses or whatever last week in the next floor up, so she pretty much said we are next. They do that so the bugs don't run away from one partment to another. She says one up, one down, left and right. They all get treated so the nasty bedbugs and roaches and stuff get dead! We certainly don't want them!
So Mommy has to go to the eye doctor tomorrow probably for more needles in her eyes. If so, she will not be able to get on line or watch tv or read, so she will take a LONNNNGGGGG nap til the next day.
Mommy really wants a new place to live, but we can't afford to move. So sometimes when she gets home from somewhere she is sad because she saw lots of pretty homes. Today she was just entertained. Whew!
Oh! Mommy found my foodie bowl. On the pantry floor!

Heat Wave
Mommy's off again tomorrow. We had our heat treat today. I got lots of compliments!!!
We sat across from the elevators all day. Alllll day! The battery in Mommy's book actually died! I sat in my little PTU nicely and sweetly and loved the sweet words I got. I even got some sweet sniffs from a couple of nice woofies!! There's a nice long-haired dachshund in our building that I got to meet!
When we got up here Mommy wouldn't let me out of my PTU until she made sure I had water to drink and she turned the fans AND the a/c on! The temperature on one of the fans wouldn't even register what it was! Right now it is 91 degrees Fahrenheit! A few hours later! My water dish (which is metal) needed ice cubes!! And the nice people dumped my crunchies on the floor and we can't find the dish. WTC! *translate that What the Cod* I hit the ladies litterbox first! Then I worried about the water. Then the crunchies. And Mommy has to get at least one new bowl (the one for crunchies). Now I am stuck with the plastic stuff from the cupboard! I do have a pretty bowl for wet foodies, though. They didn't lose that because Mommy didn't have it out this morning!
Oh, and the pantry and closet doors were left open, so she made sure to close those right away. Party-you-know-whater!
Anyway, Mommy is gone the next couple of days for doctor appointments And then she has to go to WallyWorld for her intsulins. And a neighbor is coming Thursday afternoon to help us put books away on the shelves she can't reach. Would you believe one came this morning VERY early to get them down? Now they all have to go up again. A good thing Mommy is what's called (I think) a bibliophile and she used to work in a library once upon a time!
Did I say they made Mommy take her books down out of the shelves? Yup. Lots of plastic totes to play on!! And Mommy didn't even yell!!! (well, she did yell when I went up on the table, but still, I was mostly good)!!
Anyway, I will try to get Mommy to let me check in the next few days. Cross your paws! And it will finally cool down in here soon!

Update
Mommy came back from the evaluation and Medicare turned her down for the wheelchair. She CAN get a manual one, but has to pay for it by herself. Which she can't do. She doesn't have money for that.
After 3 and a half months waiting they told her if she can make it to the evaluation with her walker under her own power she doesn't need a chair. Even though she has Arthur-it is. Even though she falls a lot.
She is kinda upset right now, so I have to play nursie. Thought you all would like to know the results.

Sunday Stuff
Happy Sunday! I have been hovering over Mommy on my chair back with the sun beams shining on me this morning. Yes, it is warm today, and will get warmer the nice weatherlady promised last night. It is fine with me when all I have to do is slide down the chair and sit in it in the cool when I am done with the warms!
Mommy has picked out some more books to download from the library, even a couple of cat mysteries! Tomorrow she will be getting evaluated for her wheelchair! Let's cross our paws everything goes okay. In between stuff she can read kitty mysteries and think of me! She will be gone most of the day and I will be all alone. If anyone wants to come over and do what Mommy calls "nattering", or I call chatting, please do. I have nice crunchies to share and lots of water and of course a clean litterbox and LOTS of places to curl up or play. Maybe we'll get to sneak in the pantry! Shhhhhh! I have little balls and mices and a pink Tickle Pickle. My red dot can be active all by itself if anyone wants to indulge. Sneaky thing! I'll let Mommy tell it to do it's thing while she's away.
Anyway, Mommy will be gone and I would love company! If your 'rents won't let you come over, that's okay. Have lots of fun and snoozes at your own home! You know that we can certainly plan our own days!
I feel a nice snooze coming on. Enjoy your Easy Sunday!

NATIONAL BOOK LOVERS DAY.
NATIONAL BOOK LOVERS DAY – August 9
Observed each year on August 9, (and sometimes on the first Saturday in November) bibliophiles get to celebrate on National Book Lovers Day! A day for all those who love to read, National Book Lovers Day encourages you to find your favorite reading place, a good book (whether it be fiction or non-fiction) and read the day away.
(This was copied from the internet.)
(this was on her niece's Facebook pages. She's a librarian)
So Mommy has been reading this morning, of course. As usual. She even furminated me to prove she wasn't ignoring me. And made sure I had fresh water and foodies. Then she started a cat mystery book. Borrowed from the library and on her Kindle. I still get occasional scritchies and short conversations.
She thinks it's kind of ironic that the manager here said to get rid of her books because they drew bugs. Mommy muttered something about Fahrenheit 451 But it is not that hot out. Getting muggy, yes. Oh, that was a book by Ray Bradbury.
Actually the lady picked up one of the books and flipped through it and said "this one doesn't have bugs". Well, duh.
Now, our books are in bookcases. Two are full. One has only a partial row of books. The remaining one has "knick knacks". If Mommy has to destroy her books (including, she says, some first editions and special printings) then she wants to know why all the libraries and bookstores in the world don't have to do the same. And while they're at it, get rid of all the paintings, too, as bugs MUST like canvas. Bye, Mona Lisa! See you on the internet!
She gets carried away sometimes.
The lady told her to get rid of her ironing board because it was dirty. Can anyone say "wash it"? It is the same ironing board one of the ladies of the blogosphere sent her years ago. Yes, through the mail!
How about a new cover, instead?
She also said Mommy had too many clothes. Really? Just a normal closetful. Only the closet here is 25 inches wide and she has to fold a lot of her clothes and put them in tubs or dresser drawers
Okay, we're done. Mommy's done.
It is going to be very hot for a few days and very muggy. And did I mention our a/c totally died? The fans are out in force!
MOUSES! kind of day.
Stay cool,
love ya,
QUINNIE MAKAYLA
p.s. oooooooh We might get the a/c fixed today!!!!! Maintenance has been here. They said they never saw such a clean filter. Well, Mommy washes it once a week like she is sposed to, and even does it with the shower head! But the rest of the a/c inside looks terrible.
Tomorrow is sposed to be ugly muggies (our weather lady says muggies, and that's where we picked it up) and if the a/c is working we will finally be able to use the oven without dying!

Tuxie Tuesday
Weird. Mommy was watching tv last night and when she was going to get up to visit the powder room she had a stabbing pain. Her back went out and she didn't even do anything! She made it to the powder room and took a couple over the counter pain pills with her usual night meds and shot. She said it's a little sore today, but no shooting pains. Thank goodness. A nice warm shower really helped.
Sometime today maintenance is supposed to come fix something in the powder room. She called in a work order yesterday.
The social worker was actually nice yesterday. I curled up on the end of the bed and looked pretty for her. I think that helped! Don't you??
On the middle of the month my Mommy goes in for her evaluation for a wheelchair. Finally. Wonder (if they approve) how long more she has to wait. She sure has been moving stuff around to make room for it when and if it comes.
Tonight is National Night Out and our building hosts the neighborhood party. If Mommy's back is better she will go to it. She has of course been before, and she says the neighbors are fairly good cooks. They set up a big grill for chicken, hamburgers, hotdogs, and brats, and have lots of different homemade salads, and of course, beans and corn. And sometimes Ice Cream!
It is starting to get hot again, so who knows if she will actually go. Usually she goes back inside to the community room to eat, but they haven't had the a/c on down there lately. If she brings stuff back up here I may get a small bite of meat, maybe?
Tuxies rule!

Hi, Again!
Well, we were sposed to have an inspection Thursday. But then Mommy read the paper wrong and it's next Thursday. The new manager stopped in and asked us if we needed to be sprayed for bugs, and wanted to know why we had dead bugs outside our partment (We baited?? And it worked??? And we will be doing it again, too!). So they said they would be back on Thursday to spray. Fine. Wednesday we had our friend in the building clean our floors and take out garbage. Thursday afternoon the bug guy came. He pulled open the pantry (well organized now) door and got on the phone and said Mommy kept garbage in the pantry. Mommy immediately said there was kitchen stuff, lids and stuff in a bag, not garbage! Well, we still have a few bugs (we wouldn't have to bait if you came once in a while and did a good job spraying!). Just not very many. And the guy then said, well you still have bedbugs, too (how could he tell from standing in the kitchen??? Besides, we don't!!!) He said take everything down off the top of the frigermator and he would try his best. And put the cat up and leave for an hour. He'd be back. Aren't we on assisted living?? Well, we aren't really qualified, and Mommy doesn't want someone else managing all her money, which they do on assisted living. We made that decision a long time ago. So it was none of this guy's business.
And the guy kinda did insult both of us. Not only the remark about garbage in the pantry and bedbugs in the partment without looking or the crack about assisted living, but the remark that he would be back.
Well, he wasn't! Now, that was purely rude!
At one point he asked where I was, and didn't like Mommy's answer ("I don't know"). Like I can't be an independent cat and have to be watched at all times? I don't come when called, either. Well, sometimes I do, if there is food involved! I have several places to be in the partment!! Even though it is small. So she doesn't always know exactly where I am.
Mommy and I are kinda pissed. I was in that kennel for a lonnnnggggg time waiting for us to leave!!! Mommy didn't think she could do much besides waiting for them to come back, so she wasted a lonnnnnggggg time, too. Finally she got up and let me out of the kennel.
So we didn't have a lot to be thankful for on Thankful Thursday other than the day was actually a lot cooler than it has been in quite a while. And it's going to get hot again, but we loved being cooler for even a little while.
Mommy had some interesting smelling pasta last night for dinner, but she didn't let me have any. That was unfair, too, to me. She said it was good. Oh, really???
Well, it's Friday today, and Mommy said we won't have to be insulted again until next Thursday.
Believe me, that is a plus! And maybe she'll share her food?
Have a good weekend ya all!
love ya,
QUINN
ps. NEWS!!.Well, the bug guys work for the place we live, so I can't really complain. They know them and trust them (we don't know why). There was a really nice outside place that had the contract before and they were good. I guess the budget got cut!
Mommy lives on her social security and we make things stretch, but we are not going to let anyone take all our money and put us in assisted living (well, we wouldn't have to move, cause part of this place is assisted living, but still).
We got a phone call this afternoon from the new manager. She's siccking the social worker on us next week. We don't like her, either. She will tell us to give me up, give up cable and the computer network, give up most of her stuff, and live in poverty with people telling mommy what to do. That is what we are facing. Oh, and the people who pay her salary are the assisted living place's owners.
We really want to move!!!
I don't want to lose Mommy!!!!!!
Wish someone could get us out of here. We already live in public housing and there is nothing cheaper. Help!!!!!
We have faced this time and time again, only this time the manager is meaner!

Remember me? It's Tuxie Tuesday!!
Whoa! We have been gone too long, Mommy! At least we have been reading blogs and commenting once in a while, though, but gee, it's been too long!
Well, Mommy has been busy and stuff. And a couple of nice bloggers have helped her get her insulins she couldn't afford. THANK YOU, kind lovely bloggers!
Monday morning, once again, it was recycling day and someone forgot. Not Mommy! The peoples that pick it up! And Mommy had all her food cartons broken down and junk mail and cans and stuff all ready. The stupid container is still sitting outside our door!
And we are getting yet another inspection coming up in the partment building.
Mommy decided that enough was enough about the bugs and she bought some stuff with her own monies to deal with it some time ago. So we have no worries there! We were tired of all the creepy crawlies that were around after being sprayed (I have to leave the partment when they do spray). It's like they have been just spraying water. And complaining all the time. So now, with the help of Home Depot and Target we have no worries in that department! And I don't have to leave. Yea! But it really is the duty of the building to take care of, and that's not exactly fair.
Now Mommy has been counting down the days until we get her monthly monies from Social Securities. She is so tired of 97 cent balances in her checking account! And that happens Wednesday. Isn't it good that Chewy is coming and we don't have to worry about the monies??
And one more month till she gets evaluated for her wheel chair.
I guess now you are caught up.
Oh, yeah, mommy wanted me to tell you that I woke her up twice last night for no reason. But, really, it was because I love her and she was talking in her sleep or making weird noises with her nose and mouth!
It is going to be very hot the rest of the week (heat index over 100) so I am hoping mommy stays home!
You all that are experiencing the same hot weather take care and try to stay cool!
And yeah, TUXIES RULE!

Thursday Thoughts
If it thunders in the night mommy loves it. She likes the sound of rain.
I feel good, now. Yesterday I was zooming around! What ever mommy had is gone too. She doesn't zoom, though. Maybe if she gets her wheelchair she will! ;-p
Now mommy's worried about her monies, cause her check comes the third Wednesday of each month, and she can't do anything. She has no milk. Other foods are okay. Next week for sure (maybe?) she has to pay for her insulin. What a life we live!
This morning mommy made herself a cup of coffee. The machine didn't work. So she poured another cup of water in it and it worked. It also gave her a half a cup of hot water. She thought something like that would happen! It did. Where'd the other half go????
Today we are thankful that injuries from the last storm were not a lot, and I am thankful mommy and I are feeling okay.
Have a beautiful day.
Love ya,
QUINN

A little late and very short. Our water thing was this morning (Tuesday) and the nice man said I was sweet. It took only a couple of minutes. But before that I had an upset tummy and so did mommy. What was that? We don't eat the same food! Mommy said I had a hairball. I've never had one before. But she doesn't get hairballs!
Last night somebody shot off fireworks directed into our parking lot (safe, cause it couln't start a fire) until 1 am. Didn't bother me much, but it kept mommy awake.
Now it's storming like crazy. While its calm for a bit we wanted to update you all on the happenings of the day.
Gotta go,

Saturday Stuff
We are in July already, Mommy! And, even though it has been cool, well at least comfortable with low humidity, it's going to come back. Yucky humidity! But this holiday weekend is sposed to be nice.
Mommy took her hairdryer and blew it inside the motor of our a/c unit and took the filter into the shower and used the shower head to clean it. Boy, was it filthy. Now it doesn't do that much in the cooling department, but it does remove the humidity. So we are doing okay.
Mommy had to go downtown on Thursday to run some errands and the weather report said it was going to rain. She said people asked her if it had stopped raining and she hadn't even noticed that it had rained. She was inside for two of her errands in the same building, and when she got out and waited for her ride the sidewalks were wet. She missed all the rain.
Friday we caught up on some of the blogs and mommy caught up on part of the things she hadn't read for a while on Facebook. We were happy to hear that everyone enjoyed the BlogPaws get together. It looked like a lot of fun from what we saw on some of the pictures. And some very neat people won some very nice awards. Concatulations! We have lots of good bloggers! Yay!
Don't forget to make sure your animals are safe this weekend. There is going to be lots of fireworks around America and some animals are scared of the loud noises. Make sure they are in a safe place and comfort them. Other than a few in our neighborhood most of the fireworks are at a considerable distance and mommy can watch the nice colors of the exploding whatevers and I'm not that upset with just a few loud fireworks and then some that are farther away from us I can barely hear.
On next week's schedule we are going to be interrupted either the fifth or the sixth for water testing in our apartments. Don't know what that's about, but they are supposed to enter all the apartments and it's supposed to take less than 10 minutes each. They are just not going to tell us when on those two days they are coming. The two days are for only our floor and the next floor. Since we have 25 floors we feel sorry for those people that have to do this testing because it's going to take forever to do all the floors. We've never heard of this testing and mommy said we already have those things that reduce how much water you use. Maybe they're just going to give us new ones???
Well, anyway, be safe this weekend, keep cool, and get some loves from your peoples, okay?
love ya, as always,

Cha-cha-cha-changes
Oh, my!
Our weather went from stiffly hot to actually chilly! This morning we were in the 50's and I actually snuggled with Mommy! She had left the fan on overnight and a bunch of windows open and there was no way I would go into the living room or kitchen! Not even for breakies!
Well the fan got turned down and I was at that breakie and Mommy actually made a cup of coffee. Something Mommy hasn't been doing lately in the heat, making that hot cup of coffee!
It would have been a nice day for her to go downtown cause she has some errands to run, but she decided to do them next week. So we get to cuddle a bit today. And I am thankful for today! Even if she wants to clean!!
What a nice change from all that heat and humidity. The windows are open, there is nice smelly stuff outside to sniff. Gotta be grateful! The heat is bound to come back!
Hope you all are having a snuggly day!

CAT DADS R COOL
We just wish we had one. Besides Mommy, that is.
Happy Father's Day!
You are lucky if your Daddy is all Daddy and not like me, with just a Mommy!
But we all are lucky to have someone love us, right? Mommy and/or Daddy!
Keep cool today, if it's going to be really really hot and muggy where you are (like here). Drink lots of water and put out some for the unlucky ones stuck outside!
And more humans need to NOT put babies of any kind in a hot car!!!!

Wordy Wednesday
Hi! It's really me!
We have survived a lot of heat and humidity these last several days, and storms last night were loud, but I have my mommy and she has me, so it wasn't too bad. My mommy loves storms, so she remains calm and that helps me remain calm.
No, our air conditioner is acting up and there is a loonnnnggg waiting list for maintenance. And we have to be patient. There are a lot of people in this building who really need a/c a lot more than Mommy and me. But we have a lovely tower fan in the living room that is helping tremendously. And mommy isn't doing too much baking, except limited to short times in the toaster oven! Or cooking when it is cooler. So it's not too bad so far. But that a/c will get fixed eventually, so no real worries.
Mommy's wheel chair: she has an appointment to be evaluated (finally!) in the middle of August! They certainly are busy if she has to wait that long. She says this time (!) she goes to her favorite place (the one next to the hospital with the sweet comfort service woofie she met not long ago. And a nice cafe place where she gets scrumptious (don't you love that word?) salads.
So that is what's up with the wheel chair. Now, the original doctor's visit was in late April. Who knows when and if she will get her chair! She's already fallen once this week.
Remember that internet problem? They charged her 70 green papers for the tech to come! She called and they said they would give her credit, but you never know. Now her statement says she still owes over 92 green papers, and I bet they charge her a late fee next month so it will be impossible to have our cable internet. If anyone can put money in my PayPal, thank you in advance. I told mommy she can have some of it.
I am spending a lot of time in the shower. Mommy thinks this is silly. But the floor is cool in there. She says all our floors are tile, so they all should be cool. I do come out and sit in my chair, though, and on the floor by Mommy and in my linen closet and on my bed and on the big bed (my mommy says it really is hers), and on the laundry and, and, and! So what is her problem??? Mommies!
Oh, some more good news: We are getting a new floor lamp. Now we do have two, but one of them is kinda broken in the middle. It has a problem standing up straight, and that is kinda scary. Well, the new one is new to us, anyway. And we didn't have to pay any green papers for it. It doesn't match the one we are keeping (that one was free, too) but they aren't standing next to each other, and besides my Mommy says matching stuff can be boring, and lots of real decorators approve of not matching stuff.
Long enough Wordy Wednesday post?
Whew.

Sunday Stuff
This is the book we read:
Cutie isn't he?
Mommy has to go in to the hospital Tuesday. NO! She's NOT staying! This trip is for her semi-annual heart checkup. That's where her heart doctor's office is. Absolutely no big deal (except I think she goes out for lunch afterwards and never brings anything home for me).
Mommy didn't let me see it, but one of our neighbors came in and organized our pantry (Mommy has fallen getting stuff out of it many times before). A very beautiful job, Mommy says, but you still can't go in there, Quinnie Makayla!
Is this fair? Pantries are FUN!
Have a beautiful week.

Friday Wrap Up
Hi, all. No, I haven't forgotten you! Mommy just hasn't been letting me on line to blog. Today it is cloudy and rainy and yucky and she's been napping (good Mommy) and watching movies (today, bad Mommy--because I haven't been blogging).
Wheelchair update: nothing so far.
Green paper update: Ow.
Mommy update: she's been pretty good. Really wants that chair, cause she made it around the whole WallyWorld on lots of pain last weekend. Think perimeter, not whole store. But she tried. Only sat once, I heard, and didn't fall. She has to go to WallyWorld for her insulins once a month. And of course, they doubled in price again.
Green paper update again: OWWWWW.
Memorial Weekend: other than WallyWorld, not much happening. She was reading a library book about a woofie who solves crime. Well, actually it was a lady chef (for animals) who solves crimes. Not a bad book. And it did have some kitties in it, too. Redeeming factor. Even though the Pampered Pets didn't solve anything they did get some awesome homemade food. "Lights, Action, Murder" and a cute little woofie in a chef's hat on the cover. We do like little woofies!
I did get my Chewy box. More foodies and more litter. Yea!
And Mommy won a book that she is going to read to me. Double yea!
Love ya,
QUINN

About my Mommy (again, sorry)
Mommy had a very bad day yesterday. That was until she finally got home (another doctor). It was wanting to rain, but she missed all of the raindrops. No she didn't necessarily feel bad. It was just one of those days when mommies say they would have rather stayed in bed. Now, I think mommies should stay in bed when ever they want to, but she means everything just went wrong all day.
That meant this morning spending a lot of time on the phone concerning her request for a wheel chair. And getting madder and madder and more upset until she wanted to just give up and forget the whole thing. It has been three weeks and she is no closer to getting it than day one. She shuffles around here so she doesn't fall, holds on to walls and doorways and other stuff and uses her cane, and makes sure I'm not in her way when she walks. She still is trying. But it is certainly hard to hear that she fell getting into her bank building, or in her own health store at her clinic even using her walker. She doesn't want to go anywhere for fear of falling again. She doesn't want to break something when she falls (I mean a bone). Why can't people understand this and make the process of getting a wheel chair as simple as they can? And the language as simple as they can. And understand that older people are old and not entirely stupid, just out of their element.
I feel so sorry for her. She gets so upset. She is so unhappy. She was trying everything she could think of (changing meds, talking to her doctors, being overly cautious) and still she is falling. A wheelchair seemed like the correct answer. It still does. But it sounds like no one else thinks so.
I am a little upset, too. My purring doesn't seem to be helping a lot right now.
So do us a favor. Would a clowder of you purr a little louder? Or bark? Or what ever will maybe help us a little?
my Mommy's little purr-er,

Diary of a Kitty
I suppose you have heard the news. No
internet till the 12th Our modem (NOT THAT OLD) bit the
dust. So I told Mommy we could record the highlights and publish them
when we got on line:
Friday May 6th.
The temp went up to 92 degrees
Fahrenheit today. NOT early May at all. Whew! And we received notice
today that next Wednesday they will be doing the spraying thing
because one of our neighbors (NOT US) has ewww bedbugs. They plan on
inspecting all the partments around the infested partment (now that
is being SMART) so WE don't get them, and treat our partments, too,
as a precaution. That means Mommy has to stay home because I have to
be kenneled and removed for at least an hour and we have no idea
when. Could be morning or afternoon. The cable guy (or girl) comes
Thursday, so that very necessary pointment won't be bothered and the
fixing of our internets can happen!
Saturday May 7th
The temp was much lower today, but
still in the 70's. Nothing else going on. Mommy and I are making it
through the no internets thing. Barely. Mommy doused her living room
fan with something she calls WD-40 in preparation for yesterday. When
it rotates it still makes horrible noise. Later on when it gets hot
for summer we will have our a/c fixed, and won't need it. Mommy's
thinking about putting the fan in my room, only it wouldn't be
rotating and making noise.
Sunday, May 8th
Happy Mommy's Day!
Ours wasn't that great. Mommy fell and
severely bruised a toe. Gee, she almost made it to the chair! She
also managed to scrape the roof of her mouth and there was a huge
blood clot. Lunch and dinner was good for her, though. And I did
crawl up her arm this morning to sweetly say Happy Mommy's Day before
I said NOW FEED ME!
Monday, May 9th
We are getting so desperate about our
friends. Still no internets, of course, but we did make one payment
over the phone. They said no charge! Now we have one bill left to
pay, although we will have to really make two months payments. The
first company we dealt with said we would be payed up till July!
Tuesday May 10th
Our friend in the building came and
cleaned for us. They have a kitty, too. I, I mean we have a lot of
boxes and stuff that is gone, too. They are a nice couple. Every
thing is taken care of now.
We are making way for mommy's lectrick
chair when it comes! Well, we hope it is lectrick. And the bug guys
are coming tomorrow. Somehow they got the info that roaches are
attracted to kitties. Not true! The roaches come under the front door
from other partments. Now bedbugs I don't know' We do not have any!
As for Mommy, her legs are really not
strong any more, and she falls a lot. Waiting for paperwork to get
moving!
No! You can't take my chair! |
Saturday May14th
Well, we missed a few days. Wednesday Mommy had the bug guys' appointment. They completely messed up the place, dragged (and left) a jacket in wet chemicals, left the floor a mess, told us my sleepy pod was bugged (we mean filled with bugs) and said my chair had to go, too.
Thursday the cable guy came. He told us one of the cords was not plugged in, and he plugged it in. We kept asking the phone ladies how many plugs were there and they kept ignoring us. Hey thanks for no internets for a dumb reason!
Now what about Friday. Well, that was an eye appointment for Mommy. And after that, home and she collapsed. I don't mean fell. I mean it was major nap time for us both! She took a nice long naptime today, too.
Now Mommy got brave and downloaded Windows 10. We are in learning mode. Mommy already found some gadgets that are not on 10 and downloaded them so that we have our little clock and calendar back on our desktop!
Oh, and now the fan "bit the dust" and the weather got cooler anyway so we didn't need it.
Whew! And Mommy asked Barb if there was any other place we could live cause she is tired of all the bug alerts that never seem to stop. She hadn't seen a cockroach in 30 years until she moved here, and never ever saw a bedbug. She's kinda done with all this.
Now you are caught up, sort of.
Oh how we missed you all!
love ya,
QUINN and
Mommy Carol
